Now that you’ve zeroed in on a couple of excellent candidates, do a branded search by Googling “business name + location.” This is just a fishing expedition, but it can be very revealing. You’ll also see relevant awards they’ve received and press coverage of the company, whether it’s good or bad. If you don’t find much good news when you search for them, you might want to try elsewhere.

If they don’t have a website, you might have reason to be concerned. No business worth its salt today lacks a quality website with up-to-date information. The same goes for a website that looks as if it came from 1999 … steer clear!
